What summer bod?

Well, winter is coming to an end (finally!), and the weather is starting to take a turn for the better (yay!). While this is all great and wonderful, girls like me start to panic. 

I know what you all will say...“You look great! What are you talking about?!” Hold the phone-my summer bod has been ‘in hiding’ under cute sweaters and skinny jeans. I’ve spent the better part of the last few months indulging in wonderful food over the holiday season with my family and friends...first Thanksgiving, then Christmas, New Year’s, and Valentine’s Day.

I lovingly bathed in mashed potatoes and gravy, had a small love affair with pumpkin and pecan pie, and ate spiral ham like it was going out of style. I bought the cinnamon lips candy at Valentine’s and ate a whole bag on the way home from the grocery store and didn’t feel bad about it.

But then...March hit and it starts to feel a little bit warmer and I start to think I should try on my shorts and ‘see where I’m at’. The prognosis isn’t good. Time to get my ass back on the treadmill and outside for walks again. Time to put down the fork and start picking up the weights (let’s be honest, that won’t really happen, but it sounds great!).

The body I’ve been neglecting with all the yummy sweets and starchy foods I’ve been eating has come back to bite me in the butt (literally). I knew this day would come but I didn’t think it would come this quickly. 

Mourn with me, my girlfriends. The day has come to show more skin...we can do this!

Meanwhile, I’ll be over here telling myself it’s what’s on the inside that counts. Screw you, shorts. I never liked you anyway.
